Chicago Trip
July 23-25, 2002
All aboard Amtrak's Southwest Chief! We rode the rails to Chicago in luxury, with its observation car, oversized windows and an elegant dining car. We had a husband and wife team for our tour guide and bus driver and 26 very nice people to share this short but great trip.
Upon our arrival in Chicago, we boarded a deluxe motorcoach to transfer to our hotel, where every room was a suite.
Day two started with a cooked-to-order breakfast before we meet up with a local guide and he gave us a wonderful tour of the Windy City!
Our tour included Shedd Aquarium. They had an Oceanarium show that featured acrobatic dolphins. We saw the city skyline on a narrated Cruise on Lake Michigan and still had time to explore the Magnificent Mile featuring Nieman-Marcus, Saks and Water Tower Place. We also had dinner at Berghoff's, a Chicago landmark.
Day three began with a visit to Sears Tower, up 110 stories for an incredible view from the roomy observation area. Next, it was on to the Field Museum of Natural History with more than l9 million artifacts and to the trendiest place in town, Navy Pier. We enjoyed walking along the waterfront and seeing a stained glass museum.
All to soon it was time to board our bus for Grand Central Station and our train ride home.
Chicago, Chicago, that wonderful town!
